Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence Studies serves as a research centre dedicated to the study of contemporary Islamic jurisprudence. It aims to produce and manage content in the field of jurisprudence, providing scholarly responses to the questions faced by both the global community and Iran regarding new jurisprudential issues. Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence Studies was established in 2020 by Seyyed Kazem Nur Mofidi, a cleric and expert in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Friday prayer leader of Gorgan, in Qom and operates under a board of trustees. It comprises three research centres and two specialized scholarly groups, along with a Center for the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Jurisprudence, and a library for contemporary jurisprudence.

Goals and missions of the research Institute

The Research Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence was founded by Seyyed Kazem Nur mofidi, a cleric and expert in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Friday prayer leader of Gorgan. Established in 2020 in Qom, the institute aims to generate and manage content in the field of contemporary jurisprudence while providing scholarly responses to the questions faced by the global community and Iran regarding new issues.

Objectives

The objectives of the research institute are as follows:

  • To create a foundation for the expansion and enrichment of jurisprudential knowledge.
  • To address fundamental needs facing modern humanity and the contemporary world within the realm of jurisprudence and its related fields.
  • To enhance and reinforce the scholarly authority of religious seminaries in the generation and distribution of high-quality jurisprudential research.
  • To enhance the effectiveness of jurisprudence in actively responding to the emerging needs, challenges, and questions facing contemporary humanity, particularly within the Islamic community and the resultant government.
  • To facilitate the training of human resources specialized in the Islamic jurisprudence and the related fields.
  • To conduct a comparative study of Shia and Sunni research on Islamic Jurisprudence aimed at producing high-quality and effective content.
  • To conduct a comparative study of jurisprudential and legal studies to foster the creation of valuable and efficient content.
  • To identify potential researchers and use them in jurisprudential studies.

Missions

  • To provide jurisprudential and reasoned responses to the questions facing humanity today, utilizing the Framework of Jawaheri Jurisprudence.
  • To establish an active media stream through various written publications and virtual platforms to promote high-quality jurisprudential outputs concerning emerging issues focusing on Jawaheri Jurisprudence approach.
  • To develop educational programs and related textbooks in the field of modern jurisprudence for instruction in seminaries and universities.
  • To train talented people in the field of jurisprudence and the related disciplines.

Institute's Organizational Structure

The Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence Studies operates under the supervision of a Board of Trustees, headed by its President, and the Supreme scholarly Council.

Presidency & Board Members

Seyyed Mojtaba Nur Mofidi serves as President while board members include Seyyed Kazem Nur Mofidi, Seyyed Mojtaba Nur Mofidi, Seyyed Hashem Hosseini Bushehri, Mohammad Javad Fazel Lankarani, Abolqasem Alidoust, Ahmad Moballeghi.

The Supreme scholarly Council

The Supreme Scholarly Council of the Research Institute is composed of the President, the Vice President for Research, and the heads of the research centers, along with six researchers from either religious or academic backgrounds, appointed by the President of the Institute. The Vice President for Research serves as the secretary of this council. The members include: Seyyed Mojtaba Nur Mofidi, Abolghasem Alidoust, Javad Fazel, Ahmad Moballeghi, Ahmad Vaezi, Mohammad Andalib Hamadani, Masih Boroujerdi, Mojtaba Elahi Khorasani, and Mostafa Dorri. Responsibilities assigned include:

  • Establishing research priorities for the institute, research centers, and scientific groups;
  • Reviewing and approving programs proposed by research centers and specialized groups;
  • Recommending the establishment, expansion, and dissolution of research centers and groups to the institute's president;
  • Approving regulations and guidelines for research and educational activities of research centers and groups in accordance with the broader approved policies and strategies.

The scholarly and research structure of the Institute

The Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence Studies consists of three research institutes and two specialized research groups. Alongside these institutes, there are two centers that focus on the virtual encyclopedia of contemporary jurisprudence and the library dedicated to contemporary jurisprudence.

Research Centers & Specialized Groups

The research institute will consist of three research centers and two specialized scientific groups:

  • Research Center for Social Jurisprudence, Culture, and Health;
  • Research Center for Jurisprudence in Politics and Governance;
  • Research Center for Jurisprudence in Economics, Resources, and Technology;
  • Specialized Group on Contemporary Jurisprudential Foundations;
  • Specialized Group on Jurisprudence of Worship

The Center for the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Jurisprudence

This center is a division of the Contemporary Jurisprudence Research Institute, tasked with the development of a virtual encyclopedia focused on contemporary jurisprudential concepts. This encyclopedia was launched in February 2021 and is managed under the supervision of an editorial board.

The Library of Contemporary Jurisprudence

The Library of Contemporary Jurisprudence is a division of the Research Institute for Contemporary Jurisprudence Studies. It features both a physical and a digital library. The physical library contains a collection of printed books and resources, which researchers can access within the institute's facilities. Meanwhile, the digital library aims at assembling all published resources concerning contemporary jurisprudence in electronic format. This library includes an array of materials such as books, theses, scholarly articles, lecture notes, presentations, interviews, and other relevant resources associated with contemporary jurisprudence, all made available to visitors.
